The waiting is finally over! Latest issue of The Dorset Rover (April/May) now dispatched by e-mail and snail-mail. Usual plea – if you don’t get one at all, and you think you should be getting one, let me know; if you get it in the wrong format – paper rather than electronic, or vice versa, similarly let me know. e-mail me to firstname.lastname@example.org Hope you enjoy it!
UNCLASSIFIED COUNTY ROAD 89 – DIMSTONE HILL – MAPPERTON
A new gate has been placed across UCR 89 and has been ILLEGALLY LOCKED CLOSED. Therefore, the UCR is currently illegally blocked.
The matter is being dealt with urgently by DCC Highways and DCC Rights of Way.
Please do not be tempted to cut the chain etc but let the appropriate authorities deal with the matter.
HOWEVER, Please report to me ANY ILLEGAL UCR/BOAT closures, blockages etc immediately you find them. I need a National Grid Reference and photographs (taken with your phone) to be able to get swift action initiated.
GRAHAM G MATTHEWS
DLRC Rights of Way Officer
The monthly GreenRoading (GR) day for April will be the weekend prior to the easter weekend.
At this point I would ask your preferred date, either the 8th or 9th of April.
This GR day is to “shake out” prior to the easter weekend.
For those of us planning to go to Wales, the experience is very different, with longish road sections to get to the long GR sections.
Therefore the wear and tear on vehicles can be different.
The plan is to drive up and around North Dorset, venturing into Wilts, maybe even as far as the southern edges of Salisbury Plain.
Please leave your thoughts, comments and preferred date, (8/9) in the comments to this post.
As always, there is no “first come first serve” and noone will be refused.
Details for the route and the admin instructions will be sent out the weekend before.
Hope to see you all soon.
